Biography
Michel Sabbag has over 40 years of professional experience and has been a Senior Advisor with PSB BOISJOLI since 2008.
Michel’s long and distinguished career began in France, where he earned his economics degree before arriving in Montreal and completing his education at the prestigious École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC). He earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1973 and his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1992. Michel was one of the original founders of BOISJOLI Sabbag, where he practiced until that firm merged with PSB in 2008.
Michel represents the interests of a large client base that includes private companies operating in the manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and IT sectors. He provides his clients with a broad spectrum of services and has developed particular expertise in national and international merger and acquisition transactions, strategic planning, corporate financing and restructuring, and tax and estate planning.
Michel is known for his effective communication skills, and is a sought-after speaker who has accepted numerous speaking engagements over the years. He has spoken to the Montreal Stock Exchange regarding valuation of companies planning to go public through the Quebec Stock Savings Plan Program, and he taught general accounting courses at the HEC from 1984 to 1985.
Michel is also a committed philanthropist with a reputation for sustained community involvement. For over a decade, he has sat on different committees within the Montreal Jewish Federation, including serving as Co-Chair of the ELAN (Every Lawyer, Accountant and Notary) & Financial Services Division of the Combined Jewish Appeal. His unceasing community commitment has not gone unnoticed: in 1992, Michel was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Confederation, a distinction that honours Canadians who have made a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, to their community, or to Canada.
Michel is similarly active within PSB BOISJOLI, where he was a member of our Compensation Committee from 2010-2011, our Recruitment Committee from 2009-2011, and our Management Committee from 2009-2010.
Michel is recognised and valued within the professional and business communities for his curiosity, conscientiousness, and capacity for reflection. His clients view him as a trusted advisor and a true business partner who is deeply committed to representing their interests and helping them achieve their goals.
